London Calling

Well, I'm trying to follow in Jen's footsteps and establish a blog of my burgeoning London adventure. While she got a groovy new site with a great and appropriate title about LA, I am being compelled to resurrect this short-lived experiment in narcissism that I began back in 2002. Glad that it still exists, I guess. It seems that all the great and appropriate titles for a London-themed blog have been taken...LondonBlog; LondonCalling; MindtheGap; etc. - all taken (and mostly underused, I'll point out).

I've enjoyed reading TheLeftCoast as its been a great way to feel connected to a friend who is a continent away - not quite as good as hearing her trials and tribulations over a beer, but pretty close. Since one of my greatest reservations about moving to London is that I don't want to lose the day to day life I've built here in Boston, I figure this might be worth a shot. And if Jen's posts thus far are in any way representative of what lies ahead, then I'll definitely want to be feeling those ties!

Unless, of course, I take up with Jude Law upon arrival, in which case, later y'all...

At this point, I'm just anxious to get the show on the road. It's been several months of nothing...nothing...and then a baby step here or there. The shocks have been many, and mostly unpleasant, to be frank, but I'm still looking forward to my new flat (pics to follow), new grounds to stomp and explore, fantastic accents, and good curry. Mostly, I'm looking forward to getting away from this office and many of its human contents for a bit. I'll admit that it's only a partial jaunt at first, as it seems I'll be back quite frequently (say, 25% of the time) between now and the new year. I've always been one to wade in slowly rather than dive, so maybe this will ease the transition. Or maybe I'd be better off cutting the cord - time will tell.
